According to data from the Office for National Statistics, the jobless rate in the UK dropped 0.2 percentage points to 8% in the second quarter versus the prior quarter.
UK unemployment rate rose 0.1 percentage points versus the same quarter last year. However, analysts were expecting the unemployment rate to decline to 8.1% in the quarter.
The number of unemployment claims fell by 5,900 to 1.59 million in July.
