long-awaited Project Glass prototype is proving to be much more popular with the development community than the company anticipated.
"As of 4:00 p.m. [yesterday], about 1,200 developers signed up [for the] preview release of Google Glasses," Trip Chowdhry, the Managing Director of Equity Research at Global Equities Research, said in an e-mail update this morning. "This is much more than Google had expected." "Developer signups for Google Glasses will also happen on Thursday," Chowdhry continued. "Based on our conversations with attendees, we think probably 40% - 60% of attendees will sign up." Chowdhry referred to the Nexus 7 as a "winner" that will "try to capture the [seven-inch] form factor market." He was also impressed with the updated voice search feature, which he referred to as a "very strong offering" in Android 4.1.
