German exports and imports declined in April. German seasonally adjusted imports fell 4.8% in the month, according to data from the Federal Statistics Office. However, economists were expecting imports to remain flat. German exports dropped a seasonally adjusted 1.7%, versus the median forecast for a 1% drop. The country's seasonally-adjusted trade surplus rose to 16.1 billion euros, versus a revised 14 billion in March. However, economists were expecting a surplus of 13.5 billion.
