announced today that the National Archives and Records Administration launched an integrated software-as-a-service solution from Active Network aimed at increasing efficiency and improving customer service of the U.S. Government's Freedom of Information Act Ombudsman's office, the Office of Government Information Services. NARA is the record keeper of important historical US documents, including the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Congress created OGIS within NARA to offer mediation services to resolve FOIA disputes, to review the agencies' FOIA policies, procedures and compliance, and to recommend policy changes to the Congress and President to improve the administration of FOIA.
