A Peek Into The Market Before The Trading Starts

Pre-open movers US stock futures are higher this morning. Futures for the Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 71 points to 11,810.00 and S&P 500 index futures rose 8.70 points to 1,223.50. Nasdaq 100 futures gained 11 points to 2,279.25.

A Peek Into Global Markets European markets were mostly lower today. The STOXX Europe 600 Index declined 0.29%, London's FTSE 100 Index moved down 0.41%, French CAC 40 index fell 0.09% and German DAX 30 index gained 0.02%.

Asian markets ended lower, with Japan's Nikkei Stock Average dropping 1.2350%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 moving down 1.79% and China's Shanghai Composite declining 1.89%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell 1.7337% and India's Sensex dropped 0.55%.

Broker Recommendation Analysts at Credit Suisse upgraded Smithfield Foods Inc (NYSE: SFD) from “neutral” to “outperform.” The target price for Smithfield Foods has been raised from $23 to $29.

Smithfield Foods shares dropped 2.46% to close at $22.62 yesterday.
