We've pointed to one of the best pieces of messaging to come out of the Occupy Wall Street protest movement: A professionally produced, 30-second commercial that summarized the feelings of many of those camped out in lower Manhattan's Zuccotti Park.

As income investors, we can get caught up in yields almost to a fault. But there is something else you should be studying that could make just as big a difference to your long-term returns: dividend growth.

After starting out as a ragtag group of a few hundred protesters in lower Manhattan, the Occupy Wall Street movement has begun to grab some national attention. And so far, the reception has been more positive than negative: In a recent poll released by Time magazine, 54% of Americans said they had a positive view of the protestors. That's compared with just 27% who support the Tea Party.
