WAGWAG had August sales of $6.10 billion, an increase of 7.8 percent from $5.66 billion for the same month in 2010.
Total front-end sales increased 6.8 percent in August, while comparable store front-end sales increased 4.8 percent. Customer traffic in comparable stores increased 2.5 percent and basket size increased 2.3 percent.
Prescriptions filled at comparable stores increased 5.2 percent in August. Calendar day shifts in August, which had one additional Wednesday and one fewer Sunday compared with August 2010, positively impacted prescriptions filled in comparable stores by 2.2 percentage points.
