U.S. Government Gave Mexican Drug Cartel Permission to Sell Cocaine in America

What the hell is going on in Washington?
According to court documents, the United States Government allowed the Mexican drug cartel "Sinaloa" to import and sell several tons of
cocaine
in the United States. In exchange for allowing the cartel to operate freely in the United States, Sinaloa gave information on rival cartels operating in and around America. These are the allegations that have come out during the trial of Vicente Zambada-Niebla, an alleged member of the Sinaloa cartel. According to the government (not that anyone trusts them anymore), Vicente Zambada-Niebla was a top lieutenant of drug kingpin Joaquin "Chapo" Guzman. He is also the son of Ismael "Mayo" Zambada-Garcia, who is said to be the brains behind the Sinaloa cartel. Of course, the outcome of the trial could change significantly if the defense team can prove that the government permitted, and in essence encouraged, Sinaloa to import and sell drugs in the United States. Zambada-Niebla claims he was permitted to smuggle drugs from 2004 until his arrest in 2009, which would nullify the arrest and charges. The entire arrest and extradition scene smells fishy. First, Zambada-Niebla voluntarily met with United States federal agents in March 2009. He did so to continue providing information to the United States government, per their agreement. The DEA agents then informed Zambada-Niebla that they wanted to continue the arrangement with him that they had with other Sinaloa employees. Five hours after the meeting, Mexican authorities arrested Zambada-Niebla and extradited him later to the United States. His father and Guzman are fugitives. If what Zambada-Niebla and others allege is true, then he should be set free immediately, and the witch hunt for his father and other associates should end. The management folks who signed off on this arrangement in the DEA or other federal office should lose their jobs, immediately. Lastly, the government needs to just quit putzing around and legalize drugs. All of them. Immediately. Let the various pharmaceutical companies try and compete with my old neighbor, Joe, and the random hippies who've sold me weed over the years. Let them come up with purer, safer drugs. And for the love of Zeus, quit persecuting businessmen like Zambada-Niebla, who are simply providing for their families and making a little money providing a good that is clearly in demand.
