Following the 2012 budget release, President Obama announced this morning that the government's share of spending will be its lowest since Dwight Eisenhower was President.
“The only way to truly tackle our deficit is to cut our excess spending wherever we find it,” he said.
Obama also noted that when he first took office, he pledged to cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term. The proposed budget, he says, can achieve that goal.
