WSJ- Twitter Worth $7 Billion

According to the Wall Street Journal, Twitter is now worth $7 billion, having raised hundreds of millions in a few financing round, according to a person close to the situation.

It is not known who is participating in this round of financing, although the company did raise $200 million seven months ago in a round led by noted venture capital firm Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.

Based on the approximate $150 million in revenues that Twitter is projected to do this year, that would value the microblogging social networking site at approximately 45 times revenue.

Twitter is not expected to go public anytime soon, despite the hype that other social networking sites have generated. Pandora (NYSE: P) and LinkedIn (NYSE: LNKD) already went public, Groupon has filed its S-1, and Facebook is expected to go public sometime in early 2012.
