Sell In May And Go Away For Suckers? (CSX, UNP, FITB, RF)

The Fast Money crew discussed the old Wall Street adage "sell in May and go away" during Monday's show.

Fast Money cited a Financial Times article that stated the theory worked from 1980 through 2000, with the markets producing positive returns only 50% of the time in May through October.

But the theory has not worked over the last nine years, with investors seeing bigger gains during the May through October period than in the November through April period.

The Fast Money crew does not recommend selling in May, but they do recommend taking profits.

Pete Najarian thinks it's time to lighten up on the railroads which have been on fire. Some railroad names are CSX Corp. (NYSE: CSX) and Union Pacific (NYSE: UNP).
