How Much Safer Can Tesla's Model 3 Be Versus Other Cars? Up To 10 Times Safer

's reputation of offering a top quality car with the highest safety rankings has

diminished somewhat after the Model S fell short to some of its competitors. But according to at least one Wall Street analyst, Tesla's upcoming

Model 3 sedan

could be 10 times safer than the average car.

According to

CNBC,

Morgan Stanley's Adam Jonas believes that the Model 3 will boast hardware and software that provide a level of safety that other cars simply cannot compete with. In fact, safety is the number one issue for consumers and perhaps no other automaker can come close to Tesla in this category.

"Look for safety to be the 'ah-hah!' moment for this car due to launch this year," Jonas was quoted by CNBC as writing in a research report.

Tesla's vehicles currently contribute around five million miles of road data per day and this could double over the next 15 months. The company then uses the data to design and refine its autopilot system.

The CNBC report further noted that after a 2016 crash claimed the life of a Tesla Model S driver, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration found there were no faults with Tesla's Autopilot system and in fact, accidents involving Tesla cars fell by almost 40 percent after the Autostreet feature was installed in cars.
