Want to order your meal at McDonald's Corporation MCD at a table? What about paying for an order through a mobile device?

These are some of the initiatives the company is working on to help spur growth in the U.S. market.

Speaking to CNBC, McDonald's CEO Steve Easterbrook said that for the better part of 60 years, consumers have been playing by McDonald's rules and following its business model but now customers are demanding more choices especially in how they order and pay for food - and McDonald's will do a better job to accommodate their guests.

Jim Cramer: 'Total Heavyweight'

Jim Cramer said during Friday's "Squawk On The Street" segment that Easterbrook recognizes that McDonald's lagged its restaurant peers in technology initiatives.

Cramer added that Easterbrook is on a mission to catch up to some of its peers, including Starbucks Corporation SBUX - and do so quickly.

Perhaps more importantly, Easterbook made it clear he understands that the franchises really run McDonald's and when the executive brings in major changes to spur growth the franchise owners start feeling more optimistic.

"I'm not worried about anything with that guy," Cramer said in reference to Easterbrook. "That guy is a heavyweight. He knows what he is doing."
