Roger McNamee, a co-founder of private equity firm Elevation Partners was a recent guest on
CNBC's Squawk Alley
segment and discussed why he thinks
Apple Inc.AAPL
's Watch is not a failure. McNamee suggested that while the Watch may have been a bit underpowered with no key features such as GPS, the product is a "peripheral to the iPhone." He continued that perhaps the Watch would have been more successful as a standalone product and could benefit from improvements, but these are issue that Apple could easily fix in future releases. He added that the Watch represents an "opportunity" for Apple. "When you sell 12 million of anything that costs $500, its not a failure," McNamee said. "It may not move the needle at Apple but its for sure not a failure."
