Fast Money Traders Reveal Their Stock Picks On A Down Day

On CNBC's Fast Money, Tim Seymour said that Select Sector Financial Slct Str SPDR Fd (NYSE: XLF) is safe to buy on a day when the stocks are trading lower. He also likes Macy's, Inc. (NYSE: M) and Occidental Petroleum Corporation (NYSE: OXY). These stocks haven't performed well in 2015, but they have a good balance sheet.

Dan Nathan thinks that it is a good idea to buy stocks of companies that are based in the US and that don't have an exposure to foreign exchange markets. He would also look for a good dividend yield. Nathan named Utilities SPDR (ETF) (NYSE: XLU), Pfizer Inc. (NYSE: PFE), AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) and Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE: VZ) as the stocks he would buy when the market is struggling.

Karen Finerman likes Whole Foods Market, Inc. (NASDAQ: WFM) and she also thinks that there could be an opportunity in the financial space.
