U.S. Dollar Index Little Changed, U.S. Unemployment Rises to 4.8 percent

The March U.S. Dollar Index is trading at 99.94, up 0.15. The U.S. dollar index is trading very choppy with a moderate range. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that that January unemployment rose to 4.8 percent from 4.7 in December. January non-farm payrolls rose 227,000 versus 157,000 in December. Average hourly earnings increased 0.1 percent, hours worked were flat at 34.4. The participation rate rose to 64.9 percent from 64.7 percent. Markit's services and composite PMI (purchasing managers surveys) are scheduled for release at 9:45 a.m. ET. The U.S. Census Bureau's is scheduled to release factory order data at 10:00 a.m. ET.
