Lean Hog Futures Higher

December lean hogs are trading at 46.67, up 0.52 cents/lb. February lean hogs are trading at 53.55, up 0.57 cents/lb. April lean hogs are trading at 60.775, up 0.37 cents/lb. Lean hog futures are trading higher just after the open. Market chatter about consumer demand, cash prices and the upcoming election is making the rounds. Friday's USDA hog slaughter was 436,000 head and Saturday's was 314,000 head. The total for last week was a record high of 2,532,000 head versus 2,410,000 the previous week and 2,362,000 last year at this time.
