The U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) monthly cold storage report was released Friday after the close of livestock trading. The USDA cold Storage report showed that stocks of frozen beef in the nations freezers on September 30th totaled 520.717million pounds up 9 percent from the previous report and up 4 percent from a year ago. Stocks of frozen pork totaled 642.044 million pounds, up 5 percent from last month and down 2 percent from a year ago. Total red meat stocks in cold storage hit a new monthly record for September at 1.207 billion pounds, up 7 percent on the month and a little higher than a year ago. The USDA data showed that total pounds of beef in storage in the nations freezers on September 30th was at the highest level since the USDA started counting the data in 1932.
