Live Cattle Futures Little Lower

October live cattle is trading at 108.00, down 0.27 cents/lb. December live cattle is trading at 107.52, down 0.35 cents/lb. February live cattle is trading at 107.82, down 0.22 cents/lb. Live cattle futures are trading a little lower just after the open Monday. Trading is modestly choppy. Market chatter about cash prices is making the rounds. Friday's USDA cattle slaughter was 109,000 head. Saturday's was 53,000 head. The total for the week was 604,000 head, up 4.5 percent from last year. Beef production was 500.3 million pounds, up 1.8 percent versus a year ago.
