Gold futures are trading higher by $20 at $1278.20 in Friday's session. The contract had a brief drop to $1250.10 as the jobs number was released, but immediately reversed course.
So far, it has easily surpassed the former high for the move made on Thursday at $1269.30, reaching $1280.70.
Based on the rolling front-month contract, the bullion has not been above $1300 since January 2015, when it peaked at $1311.40.
