Livestock market recap

Week cash and beef prices pressured Live Cattle futures on Friday.

Slaughter the week was 566,000 head, down 6.9 percent from 2013. Beef production on the week was down 3.9 percent last year at 468.2 million pounds.

Beef prices at midday were down a little over 2.00.

February live cattle closed 0.40 lower on the day and down on the week.

February lean hogs closed 1.10 lower on the day to the lowest levels March. Slaughter for the week was 2.25 4 million head, down 2.9 percent last year.

Pork production was 484.2 million pounds for the week, down just over 2 percent from last year.
