This will allow foreign carmakers to take full ownership of their local joint ventures. The decision will certainly bring a smile on the faces of U.S. automakers, which have been operating in China under this restriction since 1994. Full ownership means complete control and no sharing of profits, which definitely is going to help U.S. carmakers.

At the same time, this development will also help investors breathe easy after reeling under fears of a trade war for the last few weeks. When both the United States and China announced tariffs and retaliatory tariffs on each other, the markets went into a tailspin.

However, the recent announcement by China is more a move to expand and support its self-sufficiency in almost every market and is part of the Made in China 2025 plan. Moreover, it needs to be seen if U.S. carmakers operating in China decide to buy out their joint venture (JV) partners in that country. This is because working in JVs for years have made them enjoy a certain comfort level to operate smoothly.

China Eases Trade War Worries

Markets have been volatile since March on fears of a possible trade war between the United States and China. However, China's announcement on Tuesday to remove restrictions on foreign ownership of domestic ventures will ease these fears to some extent. The announcement comes exactly a week after China's president Xi Jinping said that he will make efforts to open the country's economy and cut import duties.

The announcement should give a major boost to the confidence of U.S. carmakers like Tesla, Inc. (NASDAQ: <a class="ticker" ...

Full story available on Benzinga.com
contributor contributors F FCAU GM Government News Regulations TSLA Emerging Markets Global Markets F US3453708600 GM US37045V1008 TSLA US88160R1014 FCAU News Government Regulations Emerging Markets Global Markets Benzinga Wed, 18 Apr 2018 15:17:35 +0000 Zacks 11536547 at https://www.benzinga.com The Numbers Support Brazil ETFs https://www.benzinga.com/trading-ideas/long-ideas/18/04/11532696/the-numbers-support-brazil-etfs
The iShares MSCI Brazil ETF (NYSE: EWZ) is up more than 5 percent year-to-date, putting the largest Brazil exchange traded fund ahead of the MSCI Emerging Markets Index by nearly 400 basis points.

Rising commodities prices and improving economic data are among the catalysts boosting Brazilian stocks this year. Smoking can be useless when using cannabis to treat certain ailments.

One example: while smoking would not help eczema or acne, cannabis-infused topical treatments or creams are used for the conditions.

Here's a chart that illustrates some of the most popular cannabis consumption methods available today:

Using cannabis as a whole plant — smoking it — can be fun and useful to treat certain conditions. But when cannabis is smokd, the user consumes a large variety of chemical components present in weed. This is often called the “entourage effect.”

“Cannabis has about 500 chemical constituents, and many of them interact with each other,” said Dr. Godfrey Pearlson, a professor at Yale University’s School of Medicine and director of the Olin Neuropsychiatry Research Center.

“If you are taking many different things at one time, it may be the combination that is helping, rather than any one particular compound.”

Unlike smoking, other cannabis delivery mechanisms like sublingual sprays, tinctures, transdermal patches and capsules, allow for certain components to be isolated and delivered to the consumer individually, in a fashion more similar to traditional pharmaceutical drugs.

“We know cannabis is good for medical purposes, but the solution is not always inhalation,” said Aras Azadian, CEO of Avicanna, the first cannabinoid therapeutics company to be admitted into JLABS @ Toronto, part of Johnson & Johnson Innovation.

Each specific indication is best treated through a particular delivery method.

Let’s take a look at marijuana delivery methods beyond smoking.

Edibles

Even though the name would suggest otherwise, cannabis edibles are not necessarily edible. Some are edible, while others can be drank.
