T-Mobile To Launch HSPA-Plus Technology (DT, VZ, S, ATT, DELL)

T-Mobile USA (NYSE: DT) has announced its plans to introduce a faster network technology in more than 100 U.S. markets. The new technology is already operational in New York and Washington D.C. The new launches will be made in places such as Los Angeles. Neville Ray, T-Mobile USA’s (DT) senior vice president, said, “"Pretty much half that footprint will be in place by midyear."

T-Mobile expects to thwart the advances made by its rival telecom firms. Verizon Wireless (VZ) and Sprint Nextel (S) are planning to introduce 4-G services in select markets. AT&T (ATT) is also planning to tread down the same path. However, T-Mobile had decided to go the HSPA-Plus route. HSPA-Plus technology uses the 3-G platform and enhances its speed. The company has also started selling a netbook computer in collaboration with Dell Inc. (NYSE: DELL)
