Security Concerns Push Google To Phase Out Microsoft Windows

The Financial Times has cited several employees of the Internet search giant Google
GOOG
as saying that GOOG is discontinuing the use of Microsoft’s
MSFT
Windows operating system within the company. The move is reported to be triggered by security worries. GOOG directed its employees to move on to other operating systems after its Chinese operations got hacked in the month of January. According to a company’s employee, "We're not doing any more Windows. It is a security effort." "Many people have been moved away from (Windows) PCs, mostly towards Mac OS, following the China hacking attacks," told another employee. The option to choose between Apple's Mac computers and PCs running the Linux operating system is being given to Google’s new hires. GOOG’s employees are finding it hard to run the company on its own products, including the upcoming Chrome OS. Read more
