Marijuana Content Unfiltered: High There Is The New Way To Connect With Cannabis Community

Zinger Key Points
  • "Over the last several months, we have worked hard to enhance the High There app," says chief content officer Jamie Solis.
  • High There doesn't censor cannabis content. Instead, it promotes cannabis products while creating marijuana-related content.

Cannabis-focused media and technology company Kaya Now Inc. announced on Monday the launch of a new and improved version of its High There app.

The app introduced three new features to elevate the user experience with industry-led content, including:

  • Rooms - a live chat feature to enable quick connections and conversations between users.
  • Global Stories - a feature where users can share stories with their followers and contribute to global community experiences with photos and videos.
  • Discover - a feature that customizes users' feeds based on their past likes, dislikes and interests.

"Over the last several months, we have worked hard to enhance the High There app to reach parity with some of the world's leading social media platforms, so we are thrilled to have reached this important milestone," Jamie Solis, the company's chief content officer, said.

"We've come a long way from the app's original version, which focused on cannabis-friendly online dating. Today, the High There app prioritizes content over connections, providing users with a customized app experience that curates educational media from trusted cannabis news sources and interactive content from leading creators who can use this safe, open platform to grow their following."

High There doesn't censor cannabis content. Instead, it promotes cannabis products while creating marijuana-related content directed at bettering the cannabis industry and amplifying all the voices of the burgeoning community.

Cannabis Networking: What Are The Alternatives?

Having in mind that cannabis brands and fans alike often have their accounts deleted or banned these days, Benzinga's Andrew Ward interviewed several marketing and industry experts earlier to come up with other options for cannasseurs.

Besides cannabis-specific platforms that often struggle to earn a more substantial membership, LinkedIn, Twitter and Lantern have proven to be beneficial in building lasting connections in cannabis.

"It's more so for people and not brands, but it is a great place for brands to share their latest press coverage and news," Alice Moon, a cannabis PR and social media professional, said, referring to LinkedIn as a tool for connecting with other industry professionals.

Karina Karassev, co-founder and COO of cannabis packaging brand Stori, seconded Moon.

"Linkedin does an excellent job removing negative stigmas surrounding the cannabis industry," Karassev said.
