Benzinga Mid-Afternoon Market Update


During afternoon Tuesday trading, market growth began to level off. The Dow was up about 0.67 percent, roughly 89.42 points. The NASDAQ also rose, up about 0.25 percent or about 7.86 points. The S&P was on the rise as well, trading up 0.46 percent, increasing 6.60 points.

The euro and U.S. dollar pair traded up 0.82 percent to $1.2862, while the U.S. dollar and Japanese yen pair was down 0.62 percent, trading around $77.794. Another pair on the rise was the British pound and U.S. dollar pair which traded up 0.51 percent to $1.6069.

U.S. three-month treasury bonds fell 0.005 percent, while three-year rose 0.005 percent, and ten-year climbed 0.040 percent.

Gold traded rose to $1,733.02, up about $3.82, while Silver traded up slightly around $33.52, up roughly $0.05. Crude Oil gains slowed a bit up $0.47 to about $97.01 while Natural Gas traded up $0.179 to $2.991.

At 5:00pm EST, Facebook (NASDAQ: FB) Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg will address the public for the first time since the company's IPO at TechCrunch Disrupt.
