Bernie Madoff Is Completely Delusional!

Bernie Madoff called a New York Magazine reporter from the Butner Federal Correctional Complex and gave a wide-ranging interview. CNBC just played some snippets from the recorded conversations, and those clips as abbreviated as they are, make Madoff sound truly delusional. He said that when all is said and done that most of his victims will likely not lose any of their principal, and that most of the losses are a result of fictional profits. While this could potentially be true, all of the reports suggest that losses will be substantial and victims will only receive pennies on the dollar with regard to their principal investments. Madoff also said that his wife feels sorry for him. He appears to view himself as a victim in some ways, while accusing his victims of being "greedy." It is hard to believe that his wife truly feels sorry for him, considering that reports indicate that she has cut off contact with him after the suicide of their son Mark. Madoff told the reporter that near the end, as the financial crisis made it impossible for him to raise more money to meet significant redemption requests, he was hoping that some sort of miracle would happen that could save him. Anyone could understand such sentiments from a purely fantastical standpoint, but it sounded as if Madoff really believed that fortune might save him from facing the consequences of his crime. This view seems bizarre, given the fact that the man has been described as cool and calculated, yet his own statements suggest that he was unable to look upon his situation with any real logic and clarity.
