Typing “Baby Hands VR” into YouTube will likely yield different results than you had intended.

Instead of a lullaby, songs, or lessons on hygiene for kids, what you would probably find is a long list of creators playing Chicken Waffle’s famous virtual reality (VR) game.

Hilariously placed into the body of a baby, players crawl around their virtual environments in search of interactive toys, puzzles, and minigames. This “simple” game has amassed quite a fandom; the Texas-based game studio’s game, Baby Hands, has over a billion cumulative gameplay views.

“The response we’ve received from fans is so rewarding,” says Chicken Waffle CEO Finn Staber. “And we’re dedicated to building even more great content for them to enjoy.”

Given the increasing nature in which the gaming industry has influenced our world and culture, it’s perhaps no surprise to find that it has a collective market worth of $159 billion in 2020, marking a 5% increase from the previous year.

Chicken Waffle at a Glance

Since Chicken Waffle’s inauguration in 2017, it has released 4 VR/AR games and reportedly deployed them in over 38 regions worldwide, along with a huge library of award-winning games and experiences for 3rd party clients and partners. The game development studio has been praised for its work, achieving an Auggie Award for “Best in Show” in 2019 and “Best eSports Experience” in 2020.

As a development studio and game publisher, Chicken Waffle has the ability to build and deploy to PlayStation, Steam, Oculus, Viveport, Xbox, Nintendo, iTunes, Google Play, and even Tencent.

But the company claims its solutions extend into more than just gaming. Chicken Waffle’s StartEngine page emphasizes proprietary extended reality (XR) development tools, gamified blockchain solutions for non-fungible token (NFT) creators, and military training as potential areas of growth.

Adhering to its mission to allow people to connect in a fully immersive way, Chicken Waffle states that it is working on the release of a Baby Hands sequel and the launch of eSports and social games in malls around the world by 2022.
