Netflix Gearing Up For Gaming With 40 New Mysterious Video Games In 2023

During a recent press event, Netflix NFLX announced its plans to release 40 new video games throughout the remainder of 2023.

The streaming giant based in Los Gatos, California also revealed that it has 70 games in development with external partners, in addition to the 16 games currently being developed in-house, according to IGN. Netflix's gaming platform currently offers 55 games.

While the company didn't divulge many details on its upcoming games, it did announce that the popular mobile puzzle games "Monument Valley 1" and "Monument Valley 2" will be coming to Netflix in 2024. Additionally, the streaming platform teased the next game in its three-game deal with Ubisoft UBSFF, "Mighty Quest: Rogue Palace," which will be released on April 18.

Netflix also revealed that a new game based on the reality dating show "Too Hot to Handle" will be released later this year alongside a new season of the show.

During the press event, Netflix refrained from sharing any specific figures regarding the performance of its gaming platform among its subscribers. Leanne Loombe, the Vice President of External Games at Netflix, dodged the question and mentioned that the company is "very happy with the progress so far" in terms of user growth.

However, it's worth noting that, in August of last year, the number of Netflix subscribers engaging with the platform's games regularly was below 1%, according to CNBC.
