TherapeuticsMD, Inc. (NYSE MKT:
TXMD
) revealed Monday about an exciting new advancement in compliance packaging for prenatal vitamins containing iron. According to the company, this innovative packaging offered a much-needed solution to the challenges faced in effectively creating – and using – child-resistant safety packaging for prenatal vitamins, which contain iron. TherapeuticsMD said that it featured a unique blister pack locking system, designed for adults to easily open by squeezing the sides, pulling out the pill blister, and pressing the capsule through the foil backing. The company's VP of Marketing, Jason Spitz, commented, "As a leader in healthcare solutions for women, we are continually looking for ways to provide patients with products that embody efficacy, safety, and convenience. In talking with our customers, we found they have generally experienced frustration trying to open currently available child-resistant packages." He continued to add, "Our exciting new packaging addresses a longtime need in the prenatal market to offer women more convenient blister packaging for each dose, while also meeting important safety needs. It reflects our commitment to women's health, strengthens our relationships with Ob/Gyns, and helps to grow trust in our unique products for women." TherapeuticsMD indicated that it was launching this packaging for vitaMedMD's vitaPearl prenatal multivitamin and BocaGreen's Prena1 Pearl, the brand's authorized generic. vitaPearl and Prena1 Pearl contain more folic acid compared to the leading prescription prenatal vitamin, offering 16 vitamins and minerals, in addition to 200 mg of pur-DHA, a highly-purified, marine-based DHA. Both featured 1.4 mg of FOLMAX, a proprietary immediate and modified release folic acid formulated to help maintain folate levels in a woman's body throughout the day, and 30 mg of FePlus, a chelate-containing iron that is readily absorbed and easy on the stomach. Shares of the company traded 3.05% higher on Friday.
