Consumers Spend, Stocks Rise

Consumers Spend, Stocks Rise

A recent announcement that consumer spending has increased provided investors with more confidence in the economy. The result? Stocks rise.

The Dow Jones industrial average is currently up +42.77 or 0.39% so far today in afternoon trading.

Consumer spending is up for the fifth straight month, giving investors and Americans an increased confidence in the slow economic recovery. However, this increase in stocks may be short-lived all depending on the Labor Department's announcement later this week.

The monthly employment report will give investors a better idea of the current economic state and if employers are adding jobs. If so, stocks are expected to continue to slow increase as the economic situation continues to show signs of growth.
