As a general rule, the most successful man in life is the man who has the best information. The United Nations estimates that the world's population will reach 7.7 billion by 2020 and 9.3 billion in 2050. Another United Nations estimate says that only 30% of the arable land in use in the 1950's will be available per person in 2050. acquired Athabasca Potash for C$341 million. Vale paid US$3.8 billion for the South American fertilizer assets of US commodity supply chain company Bunge and at the same time acquired a 16 per cent stake in Fertilizantes Fosfatados of Brazil. The recent $38 billion all-cash bid for Potash Corp.
