Alexi Panagiotakopoulos is Co-founder, Partner, and CIO of Fundamental Income, as well as a member of the board, and jointly leads the company’s Investment Committee. Alexi and his Partner co-founded and sponsored the first public Net Lease REIT ETF, which was launched on the NYSE Arca in March of 2019 in partnership with Exchange Traded Concepts. The ETF, NETL, is a passive-rules based strategy that seeks to track the Fundamental Income Net Lease Real Estate Index (NETLXT), created by Alexi and his partner, Chris Burbach, and calculated by NASDAQ. In April of this year, Fundamental Income also launched a private, institutional real estate platform after raising $500 million of equity from a fund managed by Brookfield Asset Management (NYSE: BAM).

He previously served as Managing Director of Strategic Initiatives for SMS Financial, a private distressed debt firm and joint venture partner of the FDIC. Over his five-year tenure, Mr. Panagiotakopoulos was instrumental in the acquisition, recovery, and servicing of over $940 million of commercial debt across all asset classes. He also jointly managed all aspects of new business development, acquisitions and dispositions, revenue partnerships, capital placement opportunities, underwriting, and portfolio management.
