Jesse Friedland, Global Market Development Lead, Regulated Industries – Shopify Plus
Jesse Friedland is the Global Market Development Lead for the Regulated Industries team at Shopify Plus. A South African born entrepreneur and startup enthusiast, Jesse has extensive experience working internationally across the retail, healthcare, food service, and technology sectors.
Jesse is responsible for growth and market development for Shopify’s Regulated Industries team, focusing on cannabis, alcohol, and other compliance related verticals. Shopify has grown to become the leading cloud-based, multi-channel commerce platform for entrepreneurs and organizations of all sizes – including ABInBev, Ontario Cannabis Store, Canopy Growth, and over 800,000 businesses around the world.
Prior to joining Shopify, Jesse was an Account Executive at Salesforce where managed the Enterprise Retail portfolio, was a founding member of the Canadian Healthcare and Life Sciences team and launched the SFDC Canadian cannabis operations.
Emma Ernewein – Account Executive, Regulated Industries – Shopify Plus
Emma Ernewein has been on the Shopify Plus team since 2016 helping high-growth, high-volume businesses evaluate software to enable their growth. In 2018 she specialized in the cannabis industry to support governments, licensed producers, and recreational retailers as they launch and expand their direct-to-consumer operations.
Cannabis is entering the commerce space, and as such, companies need to provide best in class buying experiences that their customers already expect from non-regulated industries. Emma works with brands like Aurora, Canopy, and Tokyo Smoke to identify their goals and provide solutions for a successful and scalable launch.
