Health Care Insurers Rally as Market Sees Obama Willing to Compromise on Reform (CI, HNT, HUM)
Health Care Insurers Rallied today with Cigna Corp (NYSE: CI) up 4.6%, Humana Inc (NYSE: HUM) up 2.9%, and Health Net Inc. (NYSE: HNT) up 4%.
This sharp move to the upside comes the day after President Obama delivered his push for health care reform to Congress. It seems the market sees the speech and perhaps the reaction to it as a sign the president is willing to make compromises.
Some feel a radical and immediate reform would be a negative for insurers as more government regulation and a lot of unknowns could weigh on the sector.
