University of Michigan Consumer Sentiment Index was just released and results came in slightly better than expected. The index showed a reading of 69.3, compared to a reading of 69.0 which economists were expecting. October's final reading was 67.7, so it appears trends are improving, albeit slowly. The broader market is off its lows of the session, with the Dow off 13 points, the NASDAQ is lower by 4 points and the S&P 500 is lower by 3 points.
