Magistrate Judge Hopes to Foster 'Curiosity, Genuine Conversation' in the Courtroom

"Courtrooms are at their best when they are places that invite curiosity and genuine conversation, where civility is obligatory and compassion, even in the middle of a robust disagreement, is made possible. Good judges are brave, meticulous and thoughtful, but they are invited to be so by brave, meticulous and thoughtful lawyers," U.S. Magistrate Judge Jessica D. Hedges said during an investiture ceremony.
