Ocean Freight: Panalpina launches three new direct services from Asia to Rotterdam

Panalpina, one of the world's leading providers of supply chain solutions, today announced the launch of three new own operated direct Less than Container Load (LCL) services through its in-house carrier Pantainer Express Line. The new guaranteed weekly services, Shanghai to Rotterdam, Hong Kong to Rotterdam and Singapore to Rotterdam will further optimize the supply chain between Asia and Europe. Compared to previous routings the new services reduce transit times by two to four days and CO2 emissions by as much as 6.5%.

The three new guaranteed weekly services have been launched to meet increased customer demands and strengthen Panalpina's position as one of the leading LCL service providers on the Asia to Europe trade. They also complement Panalpina's existing services into Antwerp (Belgium), one of the group's strategic LCL hub locations.

Reduction in transport time and CO2 emissions

Panalpina's customers can expect their LCL shipments to arrive in Rotterdam (Netherlands) from Shanghai (China), Hong Kong (China) or Singapore within 26, 22 or 18 days respectively, with time savings of two to four days as cargo is shipped directly instead of being routed via the LCL hub in Antwerp. Compared to previous routings, CO2 emissions are reduced by 5.3% between Shanghai and Rotterdam, by 5.6% between Hong Kong and Rotterdam, and by 6.5% between Singapore and Rotterdam.

The new services are part of Panalpina's long term strategy to grow business on key Asia trade lanes, especially on the Far East Westbound, Transpacific Eastbound, Intra Asia, Asia to Latin America and Asia to Middle East trade.
