Why Detroit Rules

Is Detroit getting the credit it deserves?

Josh Linkner, founder and former CEO of ePrize, is a huge supporter of the city. He shared his reasons with Benzinga during a recent interview.

“Well, it's our home first of all,” Linkner said. “To have the privilege of rebuilding a great American city in one's lifetime is a blessing. So the difference that we can all make, and when I say we, not just my partners and I but the companies that we fund and the teams that work with us, every night you go to a restaurant in Detroit you're making a difference.”

“We see an opportunity for change for the good,” Linkner continued. “Also, it's a great economic opportunity; the costs are low, you've got great taxes and talent, amazing universities. So we think that following the herd to either coast just to get lost in the shuffle doesn't make so much sense economically.”

Next, Linkner spoke about Funded By Night, an event for new entrepreneurs.

“This was a wonderful celebration of entrepreneurship,” he said. “It was a celebration of Detroit heritage. A celebration of creativity. We had the opportunity to look at 25 great companies. They presented amazing ideas. Today we only funded one, but we're excited to fund more. My partners and I are deeply committed to funding entrepreneurship and to helping to launch great new companies in this region.”
