Why Are Paper Stocks Higher This Morning?

Paper stocks are on a tear in Monday's pre-market trading after a decent run up thus far this year.

Reason For Movement

Buckingham Research raised its estimates and price targets for International Paper Co IP, Packaging Corp Of America PKG and WestRock Co WRK.

The revision was premised on a $40 per ton of container board price hike reflected by the PPW.

International Paper is up 23 percent thus far this year compared to a 28 percent gain for Packaging Corp of America. WestRock is up a more modest 1.8 percent.

In pre-market trading, International Paper was up 1.49 percent at $47.70 and WestRock was gaining 1.21 percent to $46.44.
