Trip Chowdhry of Global Equities Research sent an e-mail to clients on Thursday in which he answered perhaps the most common question posed by investors - what are his top stock ideas.
Chowdhry said his top stock ideas for 2016 have not changed. His top pick is still Apple Inc. AAPL for the following reasons:
- 1. Apple's next growth catalyst for its business and stock will come from its operations in India.
- 2. Senior citizens across the world are now switching from featured phones to Phone devices.
- 3. Around 90 percent of enterprises have started the process of switching from Android to iPhone devices.
- 4. The iPhone 7 launch will be "massively successful."
- 5. The Apple developer ecosystem "continues to remain strong."
- 6. Recurrent Neural Networks efforts is a "significant platform differentiation."
Second Pick: Nvidia
Chowdhry's second pick is NVIDIA Corporation NVDA for the following reasons:
- 1. Amazon's AWS GPU Instances is the fastest growing instances on the platform and is the force that powers the instances.
- 2. Nvidia's GPU's powering Machine Learning clusters have seen a 200 percent year-over-year growth.
- 3. Apple is procuring Nvidia's GPU to power its Recurrent Neural Network training clusters.
- 4. Nvidia will see continues strength for its clusters for at least the next 1.5 to 2 years.
Third Pick: Tesla
Rounding off the analyst's top stock picks is Tesla Motors Inc TSLA.
- 1. Tesla is "creating a new industry" buy combining its business with SolarCity to create a power generation, power storage and power consumption entity.
- 2. Tesla's Gigafactory could be valued at $50 billion "when all is said and done."
- 3. Tesla is seeing production improvements in both its Model S and X vehicles.
- 4. Production of the upcoming Model 3 sedan will be "smooth" as it uses steel which is "much easy to work with."
- 5. The "best is still to come."
According to TipRanks, Chowdhry is ranked 267 out of 4057 analysts.
