SunTrust Analyst William Chappell published a note Thursday morning on one of America's favorite snacks: microwaveable popcorn. Specifically, he gave his thoughts on Amplify Snack Brands Inc BETR new SkinnyPop Microwave Popcorn, which is in test phase.

Regardless of the good taste and unique exclusion of artificial ingredients of this microwaveable popcorn, he doesn't see it as a "game changer" for the stock.

Following its Q1 earnings call, Chappell thought the two product categories that Amplify would introduce in the second half of 2016 were microwaveable popcorn and rice-cake snacks. Chappell found that SkinnyPop Microwave Popcorn was actually at Sprouts Farmers Market Inc SFM in the Atlanta area.

As for details on the product, it's $5.99 list price and contains far less ingredients than traditional microwave popcorn. In fact, it contains no artificial ingredients, is non-GMO and gluten free for those who struggle with grains and wheat. The SkinnyPop Microwave Popcorn also has 27 calories per cup vs. the 39 calories per cup for SkinnyPop RTE. The taste was good in Chappell's opinion, also noting a solid crunchy factor, but not quite on the same level as SkinnyPop RTE in terms of flavor.

At the very least, Chappell thought is was as good as other comparable microwave products on the market.
