Janus Capital's Dan Kozlowski told CNBC that the firm looks for contrarian plays by focusing on company's involved with management changes, spinoffs and industry consolidation.
Air Products & Chemicals, Inc. APD was highlighted as it recently made management improvements and restructuring changes which caught the attention of Janus.
For spin-offs, Kozlowski noted Synchrony Financial SYF which spun-off of General Electric Company GE and was "orphaned" and unnoticed by many analysts despite its strong financials.
For industry consolidations, the firm liked Crown Holdings, Inc. CCK in the aluminum beverage can industry.
