. “Trends including innovative web application technologies and the proliferation of mobile devices (laptops and smart phones today, tablets tomorrow), have brought gains in productivity, but also new security considerations,” Citi writes. “Attack motivation has shifted to financial gain, intellectual property theft and national security compromise, a combination of which is driving growth for countermeasures. At the same time, security buyers have been changed by the ‘Great Recession' of 2008-9 and are looking to reduce operational costs and consolidate vendors.” Sourcefire closed Friday at $25.08; Fortinet closed at $47.86; and Websense closed at $24.26.
