The company operates in four divisions: Discrete Automation & Motion, Low-Voltage Products, Process Automation and Power Products.

Discrete Automation and Motion: The division specializes in supplying products like motors, generators, drives, mechanical power transmission, robotics, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), wind converters, solar inverters, voltage regulators, rectifiers, UPS systems, excitation systems, traction converters as well as high-speed DC chargers. These products are required by diverse manufacturers, end-users and a number of original equipments manufacturers (OEM) as well. ABB is also the worldwide leading supplier of industrial electric motors and drives.

Low Voltage Products: ABB's Low Voltage Products business provides integrated products and solutions for diverse electrical applications in both residential and non-residential construction. The offerings include low-voltage circuit breakers, switches, control products, wiring accessories and enclosures along with safe and reliable cable systems. These high demand solutions are primarily required by builders, contractors, architects and other professionals in the infrastructure industry including distributors, installers, panel builders, OEMs, system integrators and end users. At present, ABB is providing more than 1 million products per day across the globe.

Process Automation: The segment provides a range of comprehensive products, systems and services for optimizing the productivity of industrial processes. ABB's solutions aid several companies in the process industries including oil and gas, petrochemicals, cement, mining, metals production, marine as well as pulp and paper, among others. The company offers solutions for turnkey engineering, control systems, measurement products, life cycle services as well as solutions for outsourcing maintenance and industry specific products.

Power Products Division: The Power Products division primarily serves electric, gas and water utilities as well as industrial and commercial customers, with an extensive portfolio of products and services across a wide voltage range to facilitate power generation, transmission and distribution. Direct sales account for a significant part of the division's total revenues, and external channel partners, such as wholesalers, distributors and OEMs, account for the rest. Key technologies include high- and medium-voltage switchgear, circuit breakers for a range of current ratings and voltage levels, power, distribution, traction and other special transformers, as well as products to help control and protect electrical networks. The division generated $11.0 billion of revenues in 2013.
