Over the past week and a half, Google has been working on overhauling the designs of several of its products. For example, Gmail, Maps, and Search have all received updated themes. The next in line to get an update seems to be YouTube, Google's video uploading service. For some strange reason, the redesign of YouTube is being codenamed "Cosmic Panda." Don't ask us - it's Google!
To start using the new design, just head over to http://www.youtube.com/cosmicpanda. Don't worry if you don't like it - you can switch back to the current look. Changes for this new design are listed below:
- A new experience for watching videos and playlists
- More page designs and better editing tools to customize your channel
- Keep watching when moving between videos, playlists, and channels (Chrome only)
- Stylish new look and feel
Overall, we really like the new design. It's going to take some getting used to, but new customization options are going to make every channel a bit different from each other.
Guess that new, darker player design we found last month fits in better now.
