The Strange Powers of the Placebo Effect

To gain the most effect from your placebo, you want it to be inconvenient, expensive and/or painful. (E.g., daily B-12 injections are superior to cherry flavored sublingual tablets.  The larger the needle, the better.) A "big ass science machine" monitoring your progress will, if anything, enhance it. But note, for this to work, you need to believe you're getting real treatment, you may need someone to trick you. – Ilene
