STEM, GERN and ASTM shares seeing unusual movement following the NIH Announcement

Following the announcement made by the NIH Director Francis S. Collins regarding the approval of the first 13 human embryonic stem cell (hESC) lines for use in NIH-funded research, shares of StemCells Inc (NASDAQ: STEM), Geron Corp (NASDAQ: GERN) and Aastrom Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ: ASTM) are seeing unusual movement.

StemCells Inc (NASDAQ: STEM) shares have spiraled up by 24.07% to $1.34 so far today. STEM focuses on the research, development and commercialization of products derived from stem cell technologies.

Geron Corp (NASDAQ: GERN) shares have risen by 10.85% to $6.03. GERN develops therapeutic products for the treatment of cancer and chronic degenerative diseases, such as spinal cord injury, heart failure and diabetes.

Aastrom Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ: ASTM) shares have moved up by 17.99% to $0.3227. ASTM engages in the development of autologous cell products through various technologies for the repair or regeneration of human tissue.
