ETF Plays On Amazon And eBay (HHH, FDN)

Symbols: AMZN, EBAY, HHH

Online retailers Amazon (Nasdaq: AMZN) and eBay (Nasdaq: EBAY) are both up sharply today with Amazon touching a new 52-week high and eBay not that far off from a new 52-week high of its own, perhaps indicating that shoppers are eschewing trips to the mall this holiday season and investors are waking up to the opportunities offered by both names.

The ETF plays are the Internet HOLDRs (AMEX: HHH), where Amazon and eBay account for almost 53% of the holdings and the First Trust Dow Jones Internet Index NYSE: FDN).

FDN is a more diverse Internet play, but Amazon and eBay are both among the ETF's top-10 holdings. The ETF Professor highlighted FDN in today's ETF Watchlist.

Both FDN and HHH are good ways to play the Internet holiday shopping theme, but HHH's overweight in these two names makes the ETF particularly sensitive to bullish moves in these stocks.
