Dial-Up This International Telecom ETF (IXP) For A Juicy Yield
The ETF Professor, believe it or not, does place an emphasis on ETFs that generate income and hold high-quality stocks. For the dividend-seeking investor that is looking to hold an ETF for a fair amount of time the combination of international stocks and the telecom industry can be quite potent.
That makes the iShares S&P Global Telecommunications ETF (NYSE: IXP) a good ETF to consider, regardless of market conditions. IXP isn't an entirely international ETF as AT&T (NYSE: T) and Verizon (NYSE: VZ) are among the top 10 holdings, but the rest of the group has an international flavor to it.
The ETF yields a nice 4.3% and is up nearly 8% year-to-date, though that could change if risk appetite starts to wane. Either way, IXP is safe, high-quality ETF play for international and income-minded investors.
